Celebration of the International Day of the African Child
"...commemorate the Soweto uprising in 1976..."
The International Day of the African Child is celebrated every year on June 16. The day was established in 1991 by the Organization of African Unity (now the African Union) to commemorate the 1976 Soweto uprising, when children were killed during a demonstration for their rights. To this end, the Joseph Mendo'o Foundation, in partnership with the FAH Foundation and Miss Cameroon 2024, organized a visit to the Bon Berger Orphanage in Nkoabang, Yaounde.
The Secretary General of the Joseph Mendo'o Foundation, Mrs. Owona Owona née Afana Michèle Claire, represented the entire Foundation , overseeing the celebration program and taking part in communion activities with the orphans.
